Android or Ipad
Thinking of purchasing a new tablet?
The question is, which tablet or slate should I use?
Which has a better edge than the other?
From a "business user" perspective I have done my research on iPad2 and Samsung Galaxy Tablet , Both have good and bad points and here's my comparison
Apple iPad2
- Consumers would be attracted to Ipads smooth and sleek white body
- Comes with a revolutionary Retina display
- High resolution photographs are sharp
- Has camera with image stabilisation( front and rear)
- Weight 611 grams, Dual core processor
- Video chat capabilities
Samsung Galaxy
- Bigger display at 10.1 inch
- Camera is mounted at the middle
- Weight 564 grams
- Memory choices(16 GB and 32 GB)
- Battery lasts about 2 days
- Interface is slow to respond
Both the Ipad and Samsung Galaxy has their exclusive advantages and disadvantages, its only a matter of time when a market leader emerges.
Virtual Workforce
Virtual Assistant are growing more and more popular nowadays and some of the benefits are:
- Cheaper than hiring a regular employee
- No need for office space
- No expenses on downtime for employee training
As a virtual assistant business owner, here are some of the request that i am getting lately.
"I need calls answered with exceptional working knowledge of my business, bookings made online, payments processing etc."
When i get these enquiries, my hope goes up as i think, it is great that businesses (specially small ones) are embracing the idea of outsourcing, and then the next kind of enquiry is where my hopes are slightly 'diminished '.
"Where are the receptionists located? I do not want my clients to think that the receptionist function has been outsourced offshore".
From experience and having been in the "outsourcing business" for 7 years now, I can honestly say that unless the key stakeholders of the business are ‘confident’ in outsourcing task to whom does the job the best, the virtual work force will not work. Business owners must have a true and valid reason in considering outsourcing task, generally it is for financial reasons or for better servicing the customers by offering 24x7x365.
We, in Greymouse, have helped small to medium business who truly believe that without the phone answered by our call center in Fiji, today, they would not be in business. They had to go against clients who have made the decision that by doing so, we would take away jobs in Australia.
Have you been to Coles or Kmart lately? Have you seen how slowly the ‘check out person’ is replaced by a ‘talking machine’? that is outsourcing of jobs to the end degree, is it? Well... maybe not... as whilst jobs at the counter are been cut down, a new type of jobs has been created in producing the ‘talking check out computers’.
I honestly think that a unless a business can adapt to changes quickly, they will not be able survive the next 24-48 months of financial turmoil.
So what are you waiting for, contact me on marisa@greymouse.com.au or call me on 07 3118 9594, to help grow your business.

Failing to prove your compliance in a software licensing can be very costly.
Some might assume, the probability to be chosen for a software license audit is very less, however the still remains. Businesses must evaluate the ethics and the risks of being caught of noncompliance.
The penalty incurred can be rather steep if found guilty of failing a software license audit.
Here are all the information required if software license auditors come knocking at your door
- Purchase Receipt (OEM)
- Volume license authorization and license identification number
- License key used
- Audit results
" Software licensing is complex, catching the unwary and uneducated. I expect the software reviews and checks will just increase, so prepare your business early, said Kelvin Davis."

Sharing what business I like in the Cloud
Both Kelvin Davis and Marisa Wiman shared the journey that Greymouse Cloud had over the last 7 years. We shared Greymouse highs and lows, tears and joys along the way.
We also shared the journey from 3 of our clients, entrepreneurial stories that inspire and show there is success when you strive and achieve what others say is impossible.
The three businesses we spoke about created freedom and cash-flow allowing the business to work without their direct involvement.
- Tom Freer’s journey, http://www.sonartechnology.net/ and how he has created a competitive advantage in the market.
- The second business was http://www.balloonaversal.com.au/ Michelle and Peter – based in Melbourne.
- The third was Sunshine Coast Pet Resort – Sam Brown and Jo Hassan. http://www.sunshinecoastpetresort.com/
Each of these business uses cloud technology and services to allow them a competitive advantage in the market.
The costs plummeted by at least 40% and profits flowed plus freedom from the daily tasks.
Thank you Shelley and team for giving us the time and space to share what is possible using Cloud Technologies.
Meeting In the Cloud
Flying costs time and money. If you hate wasting money, sitting around in airports, the checking counter, and baggage delays well the answer is teleconferencing.
There is a much simpler way of attending conferences now, the use of Cloud Teleconferencing
How does this Work?
In cloud Teleconferencing there is a “Virtual Room in the cloud”, where an “operator” is no longer needed to control the conference. Businesses are adapting to use Cloud Service due to the fact; they can also communicate with their employees and members abroad anywhere worldwide.
In this article Mr. Kelvin Davis talks about how using Skype and the cloud service is more of an advantage to a business. You can use,
- Skype
- Teleconference room (1 – 96)
- Teleconference room + Skype (5 - 150)
- Internal Teleconference Service
- Go to Meeting
- Asterisk – build your own
- Cost reduction
Skype
In Skype, the person calling can have 25 callers in a conference. The conference can be done by IPhone, Tablet, or a PC only if you have a Skype account. When using Skype, the only necessity for Skype is good internet connection and it’s free of charge.
Teleconference (1-96)
In Teleconferencing, it is the tradition phone system that allows you to have 96 callers. To join the conference, the local number is entered then the room number where the conference is held.
Teleconference Room + Skype (5-150)
This is a combination of both, hiring a conference room and joining Skype. Up to 50 telephone calls and Skype calls can be done instantaneously. Any client from any country can join the conference and advance booking is vital if a lot of members are in the conference
Asterisk
Software that can be installed in Linux Server, allows you to download free teleconference service. A specialist with skills is needed and it is suitable for multi-national Businesses which requires teleconferencing.
