Sometimes dealing with service providers can be painful. I have engaged the services of a professional business (Offices in three states of Australia) to have legal work done.
The strange part was the documents I sent were not read, with many of the formatting changed. I could not understand all these errors from a legal firm with such a high standing, until I asked the lawyer to advise what version of Microsoft Office he is using. It turns out that they are using office 2003, with myself and mother businesses using Microsoft office 2010.
Once I started saving the files in the older format, communication and accuracy improved.
My personal lessons
- Assume NOTHING when you engage the services of a professional firm. They may not have the necessary software.
- In the end, quality they produce is a reflection of the person engaging the solicitor. So ask to review the documents before it is sent.
